Artisan Books E-Newsletter

October 2008

Welcome to the third Artisan Books E-Newsletter for 2008. The website has been updated with images of our Artist Book Exhibition, fresh reviews, up-to-date booklists and links to available workshops. A lot of new titles have been released in time for Christmas, so be sure to access the booklists or drop in for a visit.

Firstly we would like to thank all of the artists who contributed to our *4^th Annual* *Artist Books Exhibition* *‘Into The Fold.’ *The standard and diversity of work was magnificent to see. We have uploaded images of the individual pieces to the exhibition section of the website for those of you who didn’t make it in and for those who would like a second look. Next years theme will be announced in future newsletters.

Coming up next we have our annual *Basketry Exhibition, “The Basket: Exploring the Woven Form,”* from the 11^th of October until the 8^th of November. Last year was a great success with well over a hundred baskets being sent in of many different materials and techniques. A lot of the works tend to move away from the functional into the sculptural realm and are truly a sight to behold. If you are around town on those dates we highly recommend dropping by.

Previous entries for the Basketry Exhibition, the Beanie Exhibition and the Artist Book Exhibition may be also viewed in the exhibitions section on the website. If you would like to participate in any of our exhibitions in 2009 please contact Daniel at the shop.

We have attended a variety of festivals and gatherings over the last few months. During July we were found at *The Australian Wool & Sheep Show *in Bendigo (www.sheepshow.com), followed by the *Melbourne Design Festival’s Design Market* in the Federation Square carpark (http://www.nationaldesigncentre.com).

In September we were at the TAFTA *Geelong Textile Fibre Forum* at Geelong Grammar (www.ggcreations.com.au/tafta) We would like to thank the organizers for putting on these wonderful events. They will be on around the same times next year, click on the links for more information.

Our last out-of-shop visit for this year will be to the Melbourne Design Market (www.nationaldesigncentre.com) in the Federation Square carpark on Sunday the 30^th of November. It is a fantastic opportunity to purchase unique Christmas presents and at the same time support independent Melbourne designers. If anyone would like us to bring specific titles please let us know.

If you have any workshops that you would like to advertise or a website which you would like to link to ours, please send us an email.

Wishing you all a very creative and rejuvenating Spring

The Staff.
